Job summary

The Northwest Environmental Business Council (NEBC) seeks an experienced leader to serve as Executive Director, guiding the organization through its next chapter after a planned leadership transition.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will advance collaboration among more than 160 member companies and thousands of environmental professionals, manage a skilled staff, and strengthen strategic partnerships and program impact across the environmental sector in the Northwest.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Senior-level leadership experience in an association, nonprofit, business, government, or related organization.
  • Experience in organizational management, budgeting, staff leadership, and governance with a board.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and public-facing skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with businesses, government agencies, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a small, hands-on organization.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

Responsibilities

  • Lead NEBC as chief executive and public-facing leader.
  • Develop relationships and strategic partnerships to expand impact.
  • Support membership and organizational sustainability.
  • Oversee budgeting, staff leadership, and governance with the board.
  • Represent organization across environmental sectors in the Northwest.

Description

Lead the Organization That Brings the Environmental Sector Together. With the planned retirement of its longtime Executive Director, the Northwest Environmental Business Council (NEBC) is seeking an experienced leader to guide the organization into its next chapter. Representing more than 160 member companies and connecting thousands of environmental professionals, NEBC delivers more than 20 conferences, educational programs, webinars, and networking events annually, bringing together businesses, regulators, tribal governments, local governments, and environmental professionals to advance collaboration, education, and environmental stewardship. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will build on a strong foundation, leading a financially sound organization with an engaged Board, a dedicated staff, and a respected reputation for convening the people and organizations shaping the future of the environmental sector throughout the Northwest. The Executive Director will serve as NEBC's chief executive and public-facing leader, developing relationships, strengthening strategic partnerships, supporting the organization's membership, and identifying opportunities to expand NEBC's impact and long-term success.
