Job summary

YOSO Recruiting seeks an Executive Director to launch and oversee a new behavioral health center in Colorado. Lead clinical and operational teams across Residential, PHP, IOP, OP, and Transitional Living while ensuring quality patient care and compliance with state regulations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in executive leadership within behavioral health, strong licensing and Medicaid knowledge, and a broad Colorado network of stakeholders to support growth and program expansion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Behavioral Health, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of executive or senior operational leadership experience in behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Colorado behavioral health system, including licensing requirements, Medicaid policies, reimbursement structures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience opening, leading, or growing behavioral health treatment programs is highly preferred.
  • Established professional relationships with key stakeholders, referral partners, healthcare systems, and behavioral health organizations throughout Colorado.
  • Proven success in program development, operational leadership, strategic planning, financial management, and team development.
  • Strong knowledge of accreditation standards such as Joint Commission and/or CARF is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful opening and day-to-day operations of a multi-level behavioral health treatment center.
  • Oversee Residential, PHP, IOP, OP, and Transitional Living programs while ensuring exceptional patient care and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with Colorado licensing requirements, Medicaid regulations, accreditation standards, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and clinical support systems that drive quality outcomes and sustainable growth.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with state agencies, referral partners, hospitals, managed care organizations, and community stakeholders across Colorado.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to support business development, program expansion, and strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor financial performance, budgeting, staffing, census growth, and key operational metrics.
  • Foster a culture centered on clinical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and patient-focused care.

We are seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead the launch and ongoing operations of a brand-new behavioral health treatment center in Colorado. This is a unique opportunity for a proven leader with deep knowledge of Colorado's behavioral health system to build a high-quality continuum of care offering Residential, Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Outpatient (OP), and Transitional Living services.

About the Role

The ideal candidate is an experienced behavioral health executive with extensive operational leadership experience, a thorough understanding of Colorado behavioral health licensing, Medicaid regulations, and state compliance requirements, and an established network of relationships with referral sources, payers, regulators, and community stakeholders throughout Colorado.
