Job summary

Moffat County in Craig, CO, seeks a County Manager—the chief administrative officer responsible for administering county services, implementing board policies, and leading strategic initiatives to serve the community. This exempt, full-time role requires a BA in public administration, 5–7 years in local government, and residency in Moffat County.

Salary ranges from $136,000 to $170,000 plus a multi-year agreement; deadlines apply and benefits include onsite clinic access and other employer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or related field required.
• Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in local government management.
• Must possess and maintain Colorado’s Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.
• Must reside in Moffat County and be able to respond to emergency situations 24 hours, or upon request of the Board.
• Employment contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for county operations and ensure efficient, legal public service delivery.
• Represent the County in negotiations, public meetings, and intergovernmental partnerships.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and operational improvements.
• Oversee personnel administration, performance, and succession planning.
• Lead budgeting processes and ensure fiscal sustainability across the county.
• Communicate effectively with the Board, staff, and community stakeholders.
