We are seeking a seasoned executive compensation consultant to join our dynamic consulting team. In this senior-level role, you will shape executive compensation strategies and governance practices for clients across a wide range of industries. You will work closely with senior leaders and clients, leading complex engagements, managing key relationships, and serving as a trusted advisor to boards and executive leadership.
This role blends deep technical knowledge with business insight, requiring a strong ability to lead project teams, drive revenue through strategic relationships, and contribute to thought leadership through content development and public engagement. Ideal candidates will bring industry-specific or technical expertise and be recognized for their proficiency and credibility in executive compensation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary client contact on multiple executive compensation engagements, advising Compensation Committees and senior management
- Design and implement executive and director compensation programs, including benchmarking, incentive design, peer group development, and performance goal setting
- Lead the preparation and delivery of customized, board-ready reports and presentations
- Present insights and recommendations confidently to board and executive-level audiences
- Generate new business opportunities by cultivating referral networks and expanding client relationships
- Contribute thought leadership through white papers, conference speaking, and client events
- Lead the development of proposals and RFP responses, including finalist presentations
- Apply expert knowledge of tax, accounting, and regulatory frameworks related to executive compensation
- Oversee large, complex projects while providing mentorship and quality control for junior team members
- Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team
- Support internal initiatives and help strengthen the firm’s brand and market presence
Qualifications and Experience:
- Deep expertise in executive compensation strategy, including long-term incentive design, peer benchmarking, equity utilization, and total rewards
- Specialized knowledge in a key sector or technical area (e.g., financial services, ESG, transactions, valuation)
- Strong understanding of governance and disclosure standards (ISS, Glass Lewis, CD&A, etc.)
- Proven ability to manage board-level communications and deliver actionable strategic insights
- Track record of building and sustaining high-trust client relationships and driving business development
- Proficiency in financial modeling, data interpretation, and Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint
- Strong leadership, project management, and team development skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a commitment to client service and professional excellence
- Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 20%)
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field required
- Advanced degree (MBA, JD, CPA, CFA, or similar) strongly preferred
- 15–20+ years of experience in executive compensation consulting or a related discipline such as total rewards or broad-based compensation
