Job summary

Fervo Energy Company is seeking a Chief of Staff to the VP of Operations to coordinate engineering, development, finance, and commercial activities in a high-growth geothermal program.

You will drive strategic partnerships, manage critical cross-functional workstreams, and deliver executive-quality materials while maintaining discipline and accountability across the organization. This role requires travel up to 25% and a track record of operating at multiple discipline interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline; non-engineers considered if relevant experience demonstrated.
• 10+ years in engineering, finance, consulting, data science or operations, preferably in energy or industrial sectors.
• Experience with project financial tracking: AFEs, budgets, change orders, vendor cost reconciliation, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Strong ability to read and synthesize engineering and construction docs (P&IDs, schedules, drawings, vendor scope packages, commissioning procedures).
• Track record delivering executive-grade materials (PowerPoint, Excel models, briefs) under tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to engage credibly with executives and field personnel.
• Experience operating at the intersection of multiple disciplines: engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, finance.
• Willing and able to travel to Cape Station and other Fervo locations up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Strategic partnerships and extension of leadership across engineering, development, finance, and commercial functions.
• Interface daily with cross-functional teams to keep workstreams aligned and unblocked.
• Own ongoing tracking of budgets, AFEs, and actuals; forecast spend and variances.
• Develop cost models for Cape Station and follow-on plants to support decision-making.
• Prepare executive summaries and briefing materials for ELT, board, and external stakeholders.
• Draft communications and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders; translate field reality into concise reporting.
• Identify process improvements; build templates and SOPs for repeatable project delivery.
• Lead AI adoption and special initiatives to drive efficiency in reporting and scheduling.
