Job Description

SSA Group at Utah's Hogle Zoo is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to join our team!

Position: Executive Chef

Location: Utah Hogle Zoo, Salt Lake City, Utah

Role Summary:

The Executive Chef will oversee culinary operations, lead kitchen staff, ensure food quality and safety, manage budgets, and promote sustainability and inclusivity initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Hire, train, evaluate, and coach kitchen personnel.
  2. Develop culinary training programs and serve as a culinary resource.
  3. Ensure safety and proper operating procedures for all kitchen equipment.
  4. Assist in sales forecasting and inventory management.
  5. Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization in all food service areas.
  6. Supervise food preparation, presentation, and menu development.
  7. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  8. Manage vendor relations and procurement processes.
  9. Analyze sales and inventory to maximize profitability.
  10. Control food costs and manage payroll within budget guidelines.
  11. Promote sustainability and inclusive practices within the team.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of culinary experience in high-volume settings.
  • Culinary Arts Degree and ServSafe Certification.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
