Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst in North Carolina seeks an Executive Chef to lead all culinary operations for dining, banquets, and events, delivering creative menus with impeccable quality and cost control.

This senior role partners with Club leadership to elevate Member experiences, drive menu innovation, ensure sanitation and safety compliance, and mentor a high-performing kitchen team in a private club environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive culinary leadership experience, preferably in a private club, resort, or upscale hospitality environment.
  • ServSafe Certification required; TIPS Certification or equivalent alcohol-service certification preferred.
  • Associate or culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of food costing, inventory control, labor planning, and kitchen operations.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop culinary teams.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation standards and applicable health codes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly walk dining rooms and function halls during meal service to interact with Members and guests and ensure quality and execution meet standards.
  • Lead all culinary operations across dining, banquets, catering, and Club events.
  • Lead development of a refreshed culinary program with creative, seasonal menus and elevated presentation.
  • Design inclusive menus with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety standards, sanitation requirements, and health department regulations.
  • Manage kitchen budgets, food and labor costs, inventory, forecasting, and vendor relationships.

Job description

The Executive Chef is the senior culinary leader at Pinewild Country Club, responsible for overseeing all food operations, culinary programming, and kitchen leadership across dining outlets, events, and Member experiences. This role balances creativity with operational excellence, ensuring high standards of quality, consistency, sanitation, and financial performance while leading a collaborative, high-performing kitchen team.

As Pinewild continues to evolve, the Executive Chef plays a key role in growing and maintaining Member satisfaction, supporting Club events and programming, and partnering with Leadership to build a strong culinary foundation for future growth. As part of IE Homes Clubs & Resorts, the Executive Chef will play a vital role in our overall success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Regularly walk dining rooms and function halls during meal service to interact with and develop rapport with Members and guests and to ensure quality and execution meet standards.
  • Lead all culinary operations across dining, banquets, catering, and Club events.
  • Lead the development of a refreshed culinary program that excites Members through creative, seasonal menus, elevated presentation, and consistent execution.
  • Design menus that are inclusive and clearly defined, offering high-quality vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options without compromising flavor or presentation.
  • Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and portion standards.
  • Manage kitchen budgets, food and labor costs, inventory, forecasting, and vendor relationships.
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, storage, inventory rotation, and equipment maintenance.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and develop kitchen staff while fostering a positive and accountable team culture.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety standards, sanitation requirements, and health department regulations.
  • Partner with Food & Beverage and Club Leadership to support Member engagement, private events, and special programming.
  • Promote a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment at all times.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and perform other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree, culinary degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive culinary leadership experience, preferably in a private club, resort, or upscale hospitality environment.
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification required. TIPS Certification or equivalent alcohol-service certification preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of food costing, inventory control, labor planning, and kitchen operations.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop culinary teams.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation standards and applicable health codes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and visibility in a Member-focused environment.
PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Regular lifting up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Work performed in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, cold, wet or humid conditions, and cleaning chemicals.
