The University of Chicago seeks an Executive Assistant to provide confidential, high‑level office support to the Chair and Executive Administrator of the Ben May Department for Cancer Research. You will prioritize competing requests, secure resources, and ensure smooth operations, handling sensitive matters with tact in a fast‑paced environment.

Building on the legacy of the department for excellence in basic cancer research, training, and translation, we aim to discover fundamental mechanisms of carcinogenesis and metastasis and to exploit this knowledge to develop effective therapies and prevention strategies to diminish or eliminate the threat and lethality of cancer.
This position provides confidential and high-level office and location support activities by acting as a lead and coordinating the work of others. Identifies, enhances, and applies specific processes and procedures to maximize the efficiencies of the University to which the support is being provided. May ensure the correct functioning of facilities, office and/or business support services. The Executive Assistant will independently manage multiple administrative and management tasks, while providing high-level support to the Chair and Executive Administrator of the Ben May Department for Cancer Research. This position supports leaders by prioritizing competing requests, proactively securing resources, and using independent judgment to elevate matters appropriately and to ensure smooth and effective operations.
As an Executive Assistant, you will provide a wide variety of exceptional strategic support and project assistance, including scheduling and coordinating high-priority meetings, organizing meetings and workshops, running special events, and maintaining calendars, while upholding confidentiality and exercising discretion in handling sensitive matters. This is a fast-paced role and demands a high level of discretion, confidentiality, attention to detail, and flexibility. To be successful in this role, you will be a creative and positive self-starter with the right set of skills to take on a range of projects and work from concept to completion.
Education:
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
