Jasper Economic Development Corporation is seeking an Executive Assistant to support the Executive Director and drive daily administrative operations. The role includes assisting with the economic development plan, coordinating with regional partners, managing records, and supporting budget and board activities.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with several years of economic development or admin experience.
Summary: Under general supervision of the Executive Director, the Executive Assistant is responsible for development and implementation of business retention, expansion, attraction programs and activities to encourage new investment, businesses, and jobs to Jasper. Incumbent may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.

Essential Job Functions:
Assists in the management of the day-to-day business affairs of the Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
Assists with the implementation of the existing strategic economic development plan for Jasper EDC. Determine initiatives for attraction, retention and expansion, entrepreneurial development, workforce readiness.
Works closely with regional economic development organizations, allies and workforce providers and maintains close working relationship.
Develops and sustains quality, trusting relationships with the leadership of prospective companies, regional and national site selectors, and commercial and industrial realtors.
Develops and maintains positive working relationships with vendors, customers, other agencies, and EDC staff.
Assists EDC Executive Director with preparing and presenting the proposed annual budget to the Board of Directors and the City Council for approval.
Maintains comprehensive records and electronic files, information, and records in an orderly filing system for the JEDCO office.
Maintain, update, and review files and records as needed for board members, company contacts, updates, and special projects.
Serves as the JEDCO point of contact for phone and internet service, website management and email account management.
Receives and reviews invoices and prepares check requests for payment of invoices and project expenses as directed by the Executive Director.
Manage JEDCO financials in QuickBooks including paying invoices and reconciling monthly bank statements.
Assists in developing and monitoring of agreements, contracts and other documents as needed.
Assists with preparation, posting and distribution of board meeting agendas, packets, and board meeting minutes.
Performs a variety of administrative tasks such as research projects, developing and monitoring plans and projects, prepares reports, graphs, charts, and other illustrative materials as required from factual and/or statistical data and other applicable sources.
Analyzes the feasibility of proposed projects including financial and economic impact analysis. Research and compile demographic and economic data in response to inquiries from prospective businesses.
Analyzes trends and conditions that will impact Jasper and determine necessary strategic modifications to take advantage of those trends and conditions. Identify areas of opportunity and weakness to improve the competitiveness of the community.
Conducts promotional and training presentations to market Jasper to targeted audiences.
Responds to and manages responses to inquiries and conducts follow-up with personal contact and written communications.
Other Important Duties:
Will be required to attend Texas Economic Development Council’s Basic Economic Development Course.
Will be required to attend biennial Economic Development Sales Tax Workshops.
May be required to work extended hours, evenings and weekends.
Travels to attend meetings, conferences, and training.
Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Proficient in Word, Excel, QuickBooks, WordPress Website Management.
Proficient in use and management of JEDCO’s Social Media Platforms
Proficient in organizing and conducting Zoom Meetings.
Knowledge of Texas Open Meetings Act, Open Records Act and Records Retention policies and procedures.
Knowledge of nonprofit organizational management policies and procedures.
Knowledge of customer service and practices and procedures.
Skill in effective oral and written communications.
Skill in preparing, editing, and developing responses to politically sensitive or confidential correspondence.
Skill in prioritizing, tracking, and managing multiple projects, assignments, and duties.
Ability to complete assignments with limited direction and supervision.
Ability to work well within a team and with group problem solving situations, use reason even when dealing with sensitive topics.
Ability to exhibit sound, accurate judgment and explains reasoning for decisions.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field, with five (5) years progressively responsible experience in economic development and 2-3 additional years of management/supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preference given to graduates of the Economic Development Institute and/or possessing a certification such as a Certified Economic Developer.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
Must possess valid State of Texas Driver’s License.

Work is performed in an office setting.
May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry and vision to monitor.
May be subject to extended periods of mental concentration, research and analysis.
May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, and lifting such as retrieving or replacing files and records, and setting up for meetings and special events.
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
