Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Administrator for the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCCCC). This individual, in partnership with the Executive Director of the MCCCC, is responsible for strategic and operational planning, leadership development, staff diversity, fiscal management, and monitoring of operational and performance outcomes of the MCCCC in alignment with Mayo Clinic’s overall strategy.

The Executive Administrator also serves as the Enterprise Deputy Director for Administration for the Mayo Clinic NCI P30 Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), in partnership with the MCCCC Executive Director who serves as the CCSG Principal Investigator. In this role, the Executive Director oversees an administrative team that supports the center’s leadership, faculty, and staff teams who guide each CCSG component. The Executive Administrator works closely with Center’s Deputy Directors, site-based leaders, and allied health care staff to drive ahigh-performance collaborative research ecosystem in our laboratories, clinics and communities. Six Research Programs serve as engines for scientific discovery, translating our discoveries to novel diagnostics and therapeutics. These six transdisciplinary Research Programs include: Cancer Genomics, Signaling, and Metastasis (CGSM), Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapeutics (CII), Cancer Risk Assessment, Early Detection, Interception (REDI), Cancer Prevention, Control, and Survivorship (CPCS), Novel Therapeutics and Therapeutic Modalities (NTTM) and Advanced Clinical Trials and Translational Sciences (ACTS).Through collaborations and coordination with the Mayo Clinic Research Sheild, MCCCC harnesses the power of these Research Programs, seven Translational Science teams, and 15 Disease Groups to drive a highly robust cancer clinical trials program, with distributed and decentralized elements. Center activities are also supported by 15 outstanding Shared Research Resources. To stimulate the translation of discovery science to human applications,facilitatecollaboration with biotechnology industry, and expand innovation networks, Mayo Clinic has developed biotechnology research parks and healthcare innovation districtsadjacent toeach Mayo Clinic campus.Discovery Squareis a 16-block district of downtown Rochester, fostering collaborations between biotech industries and MCR investigators. One Discovery Square opened in 2019 with infrastructure for wet and dry laboratories and houses the Mayo Clinic Center for Regenerative Biotherapeutics (CRB). CRB is producing several novel cancer therapeutics (gene and virus therapies, cancer vaccines, novel CAR-T agents) which are being tested by Mayo Clinic investigators in clinical trials. In addition to CRB, Discovery Square is now home to 35 biotechnology companies, including Boston Scientific and Phillips.

Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona:

Over the next four years,Mayo Clinic is making significant investments in both the physical and technological future of health care, through doubling the size of the Mayo Clinic campus in Phoenix, inclusive of practice, education, and research activities. A 120-acre biotechnology corridor calledDiscovery Oasisis currently in development. Biotech innovators will be invited to co-locate in the biotech corridor and contribute to a new collaborative. Arizona State University, the first collaborator in the corridor, is a proven asset in the development of a world-class talent pipeline that is feeding the growing healthcare technology sector in Arizona.

Jacksonville, Florida:

The Mayo Clinic Florida campus recently completed a major hospital expansion that includes the opening of the Duan Family Building on July 7, 2025. This 228,000-square-foot facility introduces the first carbon ion therapy program in the Western Hemisphere, expected to begin treating patients in 2028 pending FDA approval. The Center’s expanded proton radiation therapy program will open in February of 2027. Mayo Clinic has recentlyacquired201 acresnorth of the current 392-acre campus toestablisha Healthcare Innovation District and Biotechnology Park:Discovery Coast.The goals ofDiscoveryCoast areto:1) Accelerate the Bold. Forward. 2030 Strategy; 2) Generate and Diversify Income; and 3) Advance Translational Research and Academic Partnerships particularly in cancer and neurologic disorders. This innovation hub will enable the development of talent andexpertise, extending influence throughout the campus, across the North Florida region, and beyond. Discovery Coast is envisioned to serve as a unique healthcare ecosystemleveragingadvanced technologies and fostering immersive learning/testing environments to develop a community that creates novel discoveries and partnerships.

Qualifications

master’s degree in business or health care administration is required. Candidates must have at least five years of substantial leadership and management experience; 10 years is preferred. This experience must include working with physicians, scientific investigators, and allied health staff across a variety of assignments. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in leadership, management, operations, finance, and communication. Broad senior-management experience is required to coordinate activities across the organization, along with in-depth knowledge of Mayo Clinic’s strategic priorities and a broad understanding of the institution’s strengths and weaknesses relevant to advancing those priorities. Scientific expertise and experience in research and clinical trial operations within an NCI-designated cancer center are strongly preferred.

The minimum starting salary for the position may range from $327,000 to $491,000. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties. Pay for the selected candidate will vary based on experience, FTE, internal equity, or external market data.
