Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking an engineer for a Tier 1 Hedge Fund's Execution Team in Chicago and NYC. You will design and enhance execution algorithms and automation tools, partnering with experienced engineers to deliver high-performance trading infrastructure and reliable risk controls.

You will work closely with traders, PMs, and risk teams to translate business needs into scalable solutions, contribute to architecture discussions, and continuously optimize system performance in a fast-moving

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience developing electronic execution or trading algorithms.
• 5+ years of professional Java development experience within financial systems or trading environments.
• Strong knowledge of multithreaded programming, concurrency, and lock-free design patterns.
• Understanding of risk management concepts within trading environments.
• Familiarity with AI-powered development tools for planning, coding, and testing workflows.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, results-oriented environment.
