Loma Linda University Health is seeking an Executive Director-Perioperative Services to provide executive leadership, strategic planning and financial stewardship across perioperative and procedural sites.

The role requires an RN with BSN and an MSN in healthcare administration, education, or business, or an ADN with a BSN and MSN in Nursing, plus at least five years of perioperative leadership experience, and a track record of regulatory compliance and patient safety excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in healthcare administration/education/business required, or ADN with BSN in non-nursing field and MS in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of five years of nursing experience with perioperative leadership and/or administration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative, HR and financial management for perioperative sites.
  • Lead strategic planning, budget development and resource allocation.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and survey-readiness; maintain Magnet recognition journey as applicable.
  • Collaborate with physician leaders and service chiefs to align clinical and operational goals.
  • Drive recruitment, retention and succession planning and staff engagement.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and manage multiple perioperative sites.

Job description

Job Summary:

The Executive Director-Perioperative Services demonstrates business acumen and provides administrative, human resource and financial management for assigned multiple inpatient and outpatient perioperative and procedural sites licensed under Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) and Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC), a large tertiary academic medical center with Level One Trauma designation, Comprehensive Stroke Center certification, and ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Receiving Center designation. Inspires clinical practice that is patient-centric and goal oriented. Serves as a key member of the perioperative services leadership team and participates in strategic planning, budget development and staff and resource allocation. Fosters a culture that focuses on continual integration of performance improvement, quality and safety to meet optimal patient outcomes. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of all applicable regulatory standards and ensures compliance with regulations and maintains survey-readiness at all times. Demonstrates a commitment to excellence and the exceeding of customer expectations by modeling leadership behavior in the context of institutional values, empowerment, alignment, creativity and education. Supports and inspires the journey to nursing excellence and achieving and maintaining Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Collaborates with physician leaders and facilitates an empowered and empowering partnership with the relevant physician service chiefs and their medical staff colleagues. Develops, implements and maintains recruitment, retention and succession planning programs that promote a personally fulfilling workplace environment, staff and physician engagement, culture for quality patient care and positive patient experience. Participates in on call rotation. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and a Master of Science Degree in the field of healthcare, administration, education, or business required, or, Associate Degree in Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in a non-nursing field and a Master of Science Degree in Nursing required. Minimum of five years of nursing experience which has provided opportunity to demonstrate competencies in perioperative nursing, leadership, and/or administration required.

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, quality, patient safety, performance improvement methodologies, finance, medical staff structure, peer review, legal aspects of care and evidenced-based clinical practice standards. Able to develop and execute both strategic and financial plan in a multi-initiative organization with competing priorities. Exhibit professional behavior and display personal qualities such as compassion, understanding, integrity, respect, discretion and confidentiality. Highly developed oral and written communication skills and utilize professional clinical assessment skills to refer and communicate patient care information. High degree of social skills in obtaining cooperation from a broad range of people; able to work with physician, nursing, administrative and ancillary staff. Able to inspire and motivate. Knowledge of adult learning principles, management and problem-solving methodologies. Able to use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; be assertive and consistent in following and enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; use sound judgment based on factual information and clinical knowledge; work with minimal supervision; meet deadlines; perform basic math and statistical functions; demonstrate expert time management; manage multiple assignments; organize/prioritize workload; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; problem solve in a proactive manner; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records and written documents necessary to position.

Licensures and Certifications:

Active California Registered Nurse licensure required.
