The Tucson Unified School District seeks a Social Worker - Bachelor’s Degree to assist a Licensed Clinical or other Social Worker with daily tasks and provide supportive services to students and families to promote achievement. You will engage in student assessments, case file maintenance, IEP team participation, and weekly supervisory sessions as part of the building-level problem-solving team.

Location: Exceptional Education Department; 1.0 FTE on a 9.5-month calendar.

Summary

The Social Worker - Bachelor's Degree assists a Licensed Clinical or other Social Worker with their daily tasks to include providing material supportive services to students and their families in order to achieve maximum functioning and promote student achievement. Other duties may include but not limited to student assessments, maintenance of student case files, participation in multidisciplinary or IEP team meetings and weekly supervisory sessions. Serves as an integral part of a problem-solving team at the building level.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field from an accredited program at a college or university
• Ability to support a variety of students behavioral needs
• Reliable mode of transportation
• Ability to work well with a team and multitask
• Ability to manage time and problem-solve
• Availability to work flexible hours, as needed
  

Requirements Prior To Start Date

• FBI fingerprint background check.
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
• Valid Driver's license (Arizona Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire)
• MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
• Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of insurance compliance greater than or equal to the state required minimum for car insurance as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees
• Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by TUSD Risk Management Department
  

Preferred Requirements

• Bilingual – Spanish/English
• Previous experience in a school setting
• Experience working with diverse or underprivileged populations.
• Master’s degree in social work
• Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) provider
  

COMMENTS

Effective: 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR

LOCATION: Exceptional Education Department - Sites vary

FTE: 1.0 - 7.5 hours per day

Work Calendar: 9.5 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.

Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.
