The Department of Radiology at UTMB in Galveston, Texas is dedicated to advancing the science and practice of diagnostic and interventional radiology through excellence in clinical care, research, and education. We provide accurate, timely, and compassionate imaging services that inform critical clinical decisions and enhance patient outcomes. Our faculty and trainees are engaged in high-impact research that drives innovation in imaging technologies, artificial intelligence, and image-guided therapies.

The Department seeks a Physician Assistant (PA) to perform responsible clinical care in collaboration and under the supervision of a physician in one or more specialized areas.

Essential Functions Include:
  • Provides patient services under direct supervision and responsibility of a physician.
  • Elicits detailed patient histories and does complete physical examinations.
  • Determines tentative diagnosis and orders appropriate laboratory tests.
  • Counsels’ patient and family on health and disease.
  • Sutures minor wounds, assists in surgery, apply and remove casts and traction apparatus, and perform other therapeutic procedures under supervision of a physician.
  • May supervise other Physician's Assistants.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Current students who have not yet completed their physician assistant program or recent graduates who have not yet obtained their NCCPA certification, or TPAB/TMB physician assistant license are eligible to apply for this position

Required Qualifications/Education:
  • Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas Physician Assistant Board/Texas Medical Board (TPAB/TMB).
