Job summary

Balyasny Asset Management L.P. is seeking an experienced Excel engineer to support and build Excel-based tools for front-office users in New York. You will engineer applications, models, and add-ins with C#, .NET, and VBA to boost workflow efficiency and data access across the investment cycle.

You will partner with PMs, analysts, traders, and technology teams, driving performance improvements, automation, and robust diagnostics. Strong user-facing collaboration and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years experience in investment banking, asset management, hedge fund, or related software provider.
• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, or related field.
• Strong experience building Excel-based applications and front-office tooling.

Responsibilities

• Support investment professionals using Excel-based tools through troubleshooting, training, and day-to-day user engagement.
• Design, develop, and maintain Excel-based applications, models, and add-ins using C#, .NET, VBA.
• Improve workbook and add-in performance and promote best practices for Excel model design.
• Develop automation and data integrations across Excel workflows and underlying data platforms.
• Investigate production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and improve diagnostics, logging, and support tooling.
• Partner with investment professionals and central technology teams to identify workflow improvements and deliver scalable solutions.
