Job summary

Allan Myers is seeking an Experienced Skilled Pipe Excavator Operator in Chester, VA to join our Heavy Civil Construction team. The role focuses on mainline pipe installation with trenching, grading, and coordination with pipe crews.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of excavator operation experience in underground utility work and site development, with emphasis on safety and precision in stormwater, sewer, and waterline installations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of equipment operating experience.
• Valid driver's license required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) a plus.
• Related work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Operate hydraulic excavators (e.g., Cat 320, 330, 336 or similar) to excavate trenches for storm, sanitary, and water mainline pipe installations.
• Work closely with pipe crews and foremen to ensure proper trench depth, slope, and bedding for utilities.
• Utilize GPS and/or laser-guided systems for accurate digging and grade control.
• Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, grade stakes, and utility layouts.
• Perform routine daily equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Ensure safe trenching practices in compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Maintain clean and organized work zones and contribute to overall crew productivity.
