Job summary

Solargaines is seeking a full-time Equipment Operator to dig trenches for electrical conduits on solar projects in the Eastern Shore / Maryland area. Erosion control experience is required; outdoor fieldwork is expected.

The role focuses on safe operation of heavy equipment, daily inspections, and strict adherence to environmental and safety regulations on active solar job sites.

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators, backhoes, and other heavy equipment.

• Ability to conduct pre/post-trip inspections and document findings.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavator, backhoe and other heavy equipment on site.
• Maintain clean work area around equipment and site.
• Perform erosion and sediment control duties.
• Complete daily inspection reports and required documentation.
• Adhere to safety rules and environmental regulations.
• Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Lock and secure equipment at end of shift.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Summary/Objective:
The Equipment Operator safely operates various pieces of heavy equipment in the solar/electrical industry.

Essential Functions:

• Operate equipment (excavator, backhoe,and other heavy equipment)
• Keep equipment andsite clean at all times.
• Erosion and sediment control
• Perform all pre and post-trip inspections and complete daily inspection reports.
• Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner. Follow proper procedures and complete required documentation
• Understand and comply with all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies.
• Wear required PPE.
• Follow all environmental regulations and clean up any excess material that could cause environmental problems.
• Lock and secure assigned equipment daily at the end of the shift or as otherwise required,
• Other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions:

• Perform miscellaneous duties and outside labor as requested, which may include, but not limited to, cleaning up around the site,sweeping, shoveling, picking up equipment or supplies.
