Job summary

Korte Does It All, Inc. in New Haven, IN is seeking an experienced Excavation Lead to oversee excavation, grading, site preparation, utility installation, and related earthmoving activities for residential, commercial, and municipal projects.

The role includes managing field crews, operating heavy equipment when necessary, and ensuring work is completed safely and to high quality standards. This position requires strong leadership, technical excavation knowledge, and the ability to coordinate

Qualifications

• 3-5 years excavation, site development, or utility construction experience.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of excavation practices, grading, drainage, and underground utilities.
• Ability to read blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes.
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise excavation crews on job sites.
• Coordinate daily work activities and communicate project expectations to team members.
• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, skid steers as needed.
• Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, grades, and utility markings.
• Perform and oversee site preparation, grading, trenching, drainage and utility installation, backfilling operations.
• Ensure proper excavation safety procedures are followed, including trench safety and utility protection practices.
• Schedule and coordinate equipment, materials, and manpower requirements.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure quality workmanship and project compliance.
• Communicate project progress, delays, and concerns to management.
• Train and mentor crew members on proper techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
• Monitor production goals and maintain project schedules.
• Complete daily reports, equipment inspections, and job documentation.
• Assist with snow removal and other company operations as needed.
