Zeeland Lumber & Supply, a Division of US LBM Holdings, LLC, is seeking an EWP Sawyer I in Michigan to operate and maintain cutting equipment for the Engineered Wood Products department. You will cut wood pieces for EWP components and inspect finished products for quality assurance.

You will interpret shop drawings, monitor material flow, and ensure equipment functionality daily while adhering to safety guidelines and collaborating with team members to optimize workflow.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Vocational training in woodworking or machinery preferred.
• 1–3 years of industry/EWP sawyer experience preferred.
• Experience operating cutting machinery and related tools required.
• Hands-on woodworking or carpentry experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Operate, calibrate and maintain saws to cut wood pieces for EWP components (roof, floor, I-joist, LVL).
• Monitor inventory and material flow for assembly processes.
• Inspect equipment daily and report issues to leadership.
• Interpret shop drawings and/or computerized production software.

Based in Michigan, Zeeland Lumber & Supply operates truss and wall panel component manufacturing plants along with full-service building material yards that distribute lumber and an expansive range of specialty products, such as windows, doors, roofing, cabinets, decking, and interior and exterior trim.

A Brief Overview

The EWP Sawyer I will operate and maintain cutting equipment for the Engineered Wood Products (EWP) department. This person is responsible for cutting materials with precision and ensuring equipment functionality, as well as inspecting the final products for quality assurance.

What you will do

• Operate, calibrate and maintain saws to cut wood pieces for EWP components including roof, floor, I-joist, or LVL systems.
• Monitor inventory and flow of materials and supplies relating to assembly process.
• Inspect and ensure equipment functionality daily to prevent malfunctions and notify leader of any equipment issues.
• Interpret shop drawings and/or computerized production software.
• Examine final products to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Organize and store materials efficiently.
• Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations.

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Vocational training in woodworking or machinery preferred

Experience Qualifications

• 1-3 years of industry / EWP sawyer experience preferred
• Experience in operating cutting machinery
• Hands-on experience in woodworking or carpentry preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to operate equipment such as automated saws, staplers, nail guns, routers, various saws, and a crane.
• Must be able to read a tape measure and use a hammer.
• Ability to troubleshoot/problem-solve.
• Effective communication within the team and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to maintain a high level of compliance to quality and safety standards.
