Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a detail-oriented EWP Sawyer to cut i-joists to specification and help maintain production flow. The role requires following cut sheets, setting up equipment, and working with a team to meet daily goals in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of using a variety of tools; chainsaw maintenance is a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of safety procedures when handling saws and tools is a plus but not required.
• Must have manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Capable of working at a fast pace.
• Able to work in inclement weather.
• Able to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Sawing material to specifications.
• Gather materials needed for jobs according to requirements.
• Read cut sheets to determine amount, size and grade of material to cut.
• Set up machines to ensure accurate cuts.
• Ensure a quality product is produced and maintain inventory counts.
• Manage equipment servicing schedule; meet daily and weekly production goals.
• Adhere to safety requirements while operating equipment.

Job description

A Carter Lumber EWP Sawyer is responsible for cutting i-joists to specifications to ensure a quality product is produced. Projects are standard set up and generally routine based. Completes tasks as directed with minimal supervision. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position

Requirements:

• Knowledge and expertise in the use of a variety of tools; including light chainsaw maintenance, a plus, but not required
• Knowledge of safety procedures while handling saws and other tools, a plus, but not required
• Possess manual dexterity and the ability to do repetitious work
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and verbal instruction
• Must be able to work at a fast pace
• Ability to work in inclement weather
• Ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities:

Sawing

• Responsible for gathering materials needed to perform job according to requirements.
• Reads cut sheets to determine the amount, size and grade of material that needs cut.
• Sets up machines properly to ensure accuracy of cuts are made.
• Ensures a quality product is produced. Maintains inventory by providing an accurate count of products.
• Manages an equipment servicing schedule. Meets daily, weekly and team related production goals.

Safety

• Adheres to safety requirements by operating equipment and handling material in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Acknowledges and reports any defects or safety issues to supervisor immediately
