Job summary

Uvalde Memorial Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services (EVS) Technician to keep patient areas, nursing stations, and treatment spaces clean and welcoming. This essential role supports infection control and patient safety through thorough sanitizing and routine housekeeping.

In this 3rd shift position, you will stock supplies, handle waste, follow safety protocols, and respond to cleaning requests while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and teamwork in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in environmental services or janitorial work is a plus.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safe chemical use in healthcare settings.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning in patient rooms, nursing stations, treatment areas, and other spaces.
• Sanitize and disinfect surfaces, equipment, and furniture to prevent infection spread.
• Empty trash and dispose of waste following safety protocols.
• Stock and maintain cleaning supplies and restock as needed.
• Follow procedures for handling biohazardous materials.
• Respond promptly to cleaning requests from staff or patients.
• Assist with special cleaning projects and emergency clean-ups.
• Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines.
