Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains cleaning equipment and supplies; transports waste and maintains carts.
• Maintains department records and participates in quality assurance and infection control activities.
• Assists with cross-training in other clinical areas as staffing requires.

Position Summary:Performs a variety of technical terminal cleaning, specific to the needs of the hospital, which includes but is not limited to: Operating rooms and all operating room areas including adjacent sterile rooms, storage rooms, hallways, and other assigned areas of the hospital. Will also be assigned to do special cleaning in Preop, PACU areas, and entryways to surgical areas.The staffing of Summit Medical Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross-trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.Responsibilities:Performs cleaning tasks as described in the task list. Must always follow the 7 step cleaning methodSweeps, cleans, mops, scrubs, disinfects, and dust floorsCleans toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, patient beds, walls, cleans furniture, fixture doors and related furnishings by using approved cleaning supplies. Operates and maintains equipment, cart, industrial vacuumsEnsure that proper procedures are used when cleaning isolation rooms and PPE equipment is being usedLabels and removes infectious waste bags and containers.
