Job summary

UNTWN Uniontown Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services Aide to clean and sanitize patient rooms, offices and restrooms, and to maintain sanitary, orderly and aesthetically pleasing surroundings in accordance with EPA universal precautions. The role involves cleaning environmental surfaces, handling waste, restocking supplies, responding to discharge/transfer needs, and assisting with room readiness.

• Must have a HS diploma or GED.
• 6 months hospital/medical housekeeping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans occupied and discharged patient rooms, offices and restrooms following universal precautions.
• Cleans environmental surfaces and furnishings (beds, furniture, fixtures) per EPA guidelines.
• Dust mops, damp mops, and spot cleans in various areas; respond to STAT calls and assist where needed.
• Maintains cleanliness of housekeeping carts, break rooms, supply areas and storage/equipment; reports repairs.
• Responds to STAT calls via internal communication systems; may transfer/furnish furniture as needed.
• Collects and transfers recyclable materials; operates within recycling processes and safety standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This position provides a variety of cleaning and service-oriented tasks to maintain the hospital in a sanitary, orderly and aesthetically pleasing condition. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing rooms along with furnishings in assigned work areas; and following cleaning procedures established by the Director of Environmental Services.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Cleans occupied and discharged patient rooms, office areas and restrooms, removes non-medical and medical waste following universal precautions and guidelines by EPA, and salvage cleaning; restores hard floor surfaces, vacuums carpeted floors. Contacts nurses' station for discharges/transfers and reports available rooms to appropriate bed personnel.
• Cleans and prepares all environmental surfaces including but not limited to, furniture, beds, bathroom fixtures, window sills, door frames, vents, walls, televisions, and curtains following universal precautions.
• Dust mops and damp mops patient rooms, hallways, stairs, bathrooms and offices; spot cleans carpet and furniture. Responds to customer requests, follows-up on STATcalls and fills in for various assignments, when necessary.
• Maintains cleanliness of the following environmental services items (housekeeping cart, trash carts, break room, supply area, storage & equipment) reports repairs to appropriate personnel. Keeps service closets in an organized manner.
• To respond to STAT calls via Spectralink phone if applicable.
• Transfers furniture as necessary.
• Collects, sorts and transfers recyclable materials, such as, paper, newspaper, cardboard, etc
• Utilizes working knowledge of compactor recycling operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
