Job summary

Franciscan Health Michigan City Campus is seeking a Floor Care position to maintain clean, sanitary floors and surfaces in a hospital setting. You will perform routine floor scrubbing, waxing, carpet care, and disinfecting across patient care areas in the Michigan City facility.

The role requires attention to detail, adherence to health care cleaning standards, and the ability to work 3pm–11:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• 1 year healthcare cleaning experience preferred.
• Floor care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize floors using hospital-grade equipment and methods.
• Scrub, strip, and recoat floors; maintain wood and carpeted areas.
• Restock supplies and ensure restrooms and common areas are clean.
• Sanitize high-touch surfaces and furniture; report safety or maintenance issues.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT:

*** FLOOR CARE is the primary responsibility for this position.

Hours: 3pm-11:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays

• Clean slick spots and burn marks from floor
• Scrub and recoat floors with wax
• Strip and wax floors
• Clean wood floors
• Carpet extractions (spills and entire floor)
• Carpet spin clean
• Use carpet equipment for all types of floors
• Clean and disinfect floors using hospital-specific equipment including microfiber cloths, wet mops, etc.
• Clean and sanitize horizontal surfaces such as over-bed tables, counters, and furniture.
• Clean and sanitize restroom surfaces including toilets, urinals, sinks, showers, walls, floors, and mirrors.
• Clean and sanitizes vertical surfaces such as walls, ceilings, and windows.
• Ensure cleanliness of high dust surfaces such as picture frames, vents, and doorframes.
• Inspect room for proper cleaning and reports any safety or maintenance issues.
• Remove trash and linen, clean receptacles, and ensure they are prepared for next use.
• Restock paper, hand sanitizer and hand soap supplies.
• Sanitize high touch areas such as light switches, bed rails, and doorknobs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1 year Healthcare Preferred
• Floor Care experience Preferred
