Job summary

Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, NJ, seeks an Environmental Services Associate to perform a variety of housekeeping tasks and maintain a clean, safe patient environment. The role supports compassionate care by ensuring sanitary spaces across departments, including surgical and ICU areas.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, 1–3 years of EVS or healthcare cleaning experience preferred, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Interact with coworkers, patients and visitors with compassion and courtesy in a professional manner.

• Prepare cleaning solutions according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Clean areas by sanitizing furniture and surfaces with germicidal solution.
• Prepare discharged beds promptly and record completion time.
• Report discharge activity via computer.
• Dust and damp mop floors, vacuum carpets, and arrange furniture after cleaning.
• Replenish supplies before dispensers run empty.
• Safely operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, auto-scrubbers, burnishers).
• Perform cleaning in Surgical, ICU, Labor and Delivery and Nursery using proper solutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

A Brief Overview

According to established procedures performs a variety of Environmental Services duties including but not limited to housekeeping, floor care, mail and linen rooms, and waste management.

What You Will Do

• Interact with coworkers, patients and visitors with compassion, courtesy and a professional customer focused manner


• Complete tasks as per the position schedule or as assigned by supervisor/manager


• Prepare solutions according to manufacturer recommendations


• Clean assigned area by sanitizing furniture, surfaces, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solution


• Prepare discharged beds for the next patient promptly and effectively, recording the completion time properly


• Demonstrate the ability to report discharge activity appropriately via the computer


• Dust and damp mops floors, vacuums carpets, and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion after cleaning the area


• Replenish supplies such as: paper towels, toilet tissue and soaps prior to the dispenser being empty


• Safely operate various types of electrical cleaning equipment such as vacuums, auto-scrubbers, burnishers, buffing machines and carpet extractors


• Perform cleaning in specialty areas such as Surgical, ICU, Labor and Delivery and Nursery using proper cleaning solutions and techniques as prescribed by departmental procedures


• Perform other duties as assigned

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma Or equivalent Required


• Required

Experience Qualifications

• 1-3 years Environmental or housekeeping experience Preferred


• 1-3 years Healthcare experience Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Must be able to understand and clearly communicate and follow written and oral instructions (High proficiency)

Compensation

Pay Range: $16.50/hour - $24.25/hour
