Job summary

Makeready LLC in Houston is seeking an Events & Catering Cook to help prepare and execute banquet and catering menu items for meetings, weddings, and events, delivering consistency, quality, and timely service.

You'll work with the Banquet Chef and culinary team to follow recipes, maintain kitchen stations, and uphold food safety standards, supporting setup and breakdown in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Prepare and cook banquet and catering menu items according to recipes.
• Meet event schedules and service standards.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Collaborate with chefs to ensure smooth event execution.
• Prior experience as a Line Cook in banquets or high-volume kitchens.

This role works closely with the Banquet Chef and culinary team to deliver memorable dining experiences that reflect the elevated standards of the property.

Requested Tasks:

• Prepare and cook menu items for banquet and catering events according to recipes and specification
• Execute food production in a timely manner to meet event schedules and service standards
• Ensure consistency in quality, portioning, and presentation of all dishes
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned kitchen stations
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
• Assist with food prep, inventory organization, and storage as needed
• Collaborate with chefs and kitchen team members to ensure smooth event execution
• Conduct quality checks on food before service to ensure standards are met
• Assist with setup and breakdown of banquet culinary operations
• Prior experience as a Line Cook, preferably in banquets, catering, or high-volume kitchens
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to follow recipes and execute consistently
• Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
• Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to stand and work for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks
• Ability to safely use kitchen equipment, tools, and knives
