Job summary

DK Security is seeking Event Staff Security Officers to support our metro Detroit clients. You will ensure guest safety, provide hospitality security, and enforce venue rules while delivering outstanding customer service.

Openings include evenings and weekends with some day shifts. Candidates must meet minimum education requirements and pass a drug screen; armed roles require CPL or LEOSA and strict adherence to policies. Southeast Michigan-based roles offer solid teamwork and growth potential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Armed security work requires a Michigan CPL or LEOSA card.
• Must pass a drug screening at the time of hire and periodically thereafter.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to de-escalate situations calmly.

Responsibilities

DK Security is hiring event staff security officers for our various event venue clients across the metro Detroit region.

SCOPE:

Event Staff Security Officers utilize their outstanding customer service skills to provide crowd control services for events such as concerts, sporting events, trade shows and conferences at various locations. Event Staff Security Officers ensure the safety of patrons, employees, and visitors at large (and small) scale events.

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an Event Staff Security Officer at DK Security, your duties are determined by the client location. Some responsibilities include:

• Safety and wellbeing of patrons, guests, and performers.
• Hospitality Security brand with all clients, guests, and co-workers.
• Must follow venue specific guidelines.
• Foot Patrol

SUCCESS

• Reliability- Report for your shift on time, presentable, and in the prescribed uniform.
• Friendly Personality- Being able to balance our expectations of outstanding customer service while maintaining client policies and enforcing rules.
• Use of De-escalation Techniques- Being able to defuse situations through verbal judo and other communication tactics.

Qualifications

• Job Minimum Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.1067
• 17(2). (Must also be at least 21 years old and be a Michigan CPL or LEOSA cardholder to perform armed security work).
• Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.1060
• 10(1)(c).
• Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL 338.1060
• 10(1)(c).
• Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
• Must adhere to our company’s Uniform and Appearance policy and present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner. This includes the ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• If driving company or client vehicles, or if using your own vehicle for work activities, must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license and have a clean driving record with less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, less than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years, and no other major violations in the last 3 years.
• Must be able to move quickly, including running short distances, to respond in emergency situations.
• Must be physically and mentally sound and able to always remain alert while on duty. (Armed security officers must complete a psychological evaluation upon hire.)
• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk long distances, including navigating stairs, for the duration of the shift (8-12 hours).
• Must be able to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons.
• Must be able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and other equipment.
• Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. (70 lbs. if working as an armed security officer)
• Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
