Job summary

Ames High School, part of the Ames Community School District, is seeking Event Staff to support school-sponsored activities, including athletic contests, performances, and special events. The role covers ticket sales, announcements, concessions, and general event support at school venues.

Applicants should be able to work evenings, weekends, and variable hours. Prior experience in customer service or food service is welcome but not required; reliable, punctual individuals who work well in a team

Responsibilities

• Operates ticket booth, sells and collects tickets, and reconciles sales at the end of the event.
• Greets attendees in a professional, welcoming manner.
• Monitors entrances to ensure only authorized guests enter.
• Provides clear, engaging, and accurate public address announcements.
• Shares event information, schedules, and important updates in a professional tone.
• Follows scripts and district guidelines for announcements.
• Prepares, serves, and sells food and beverages in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Operates the cash register and handles transactions accurately.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and stocked concession area.
• Assists in setting up and closing down event spaces.
• Maintains crowd control and helps ensure a safe environment.
• Communicates effectively with coaches, officials, administrators, and staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Ames High School is seeking Event Staff.

Summary

Event staff members support school-sponsored activities such as athletic contests, performances, and special events.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Ticket Sales & Entry

• Operates ticket booth, sells and collects tickets, and reconciles sales at the end of the event.
• Greets attendees in a professional, welcoming manner.
• Monitors entrances to ensure only authorized guests enter.

Event Announcing

• Provides clear, engaging, and accurate public address announcements.
• Shares event information, schedules, and important updates in a professional tone.
• Follows the provided scripts and adhere to district guidelines for announcements.

Concession Stand Operations

• Prepares, serves, and sells food and beverages in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Operates the cash register and handles transactions accurately.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and stocked concession area.

General Event Support

• Assists in setting up and closing down event spaces.
• Maintains crowd control and help ensure a safe, positive environment.
• Communicates effectively with coaches, officials, administrators, and other staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and variable hours as scheduled.
• Previous experience in customer service, food service, or event operations preferred but not required.

The successful candidate will exhibit:

• Experience handling money preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Compensation: $11.00/hour
