MarketingOps.com is the professional home for marketing ops, revenue ops, and GTM practitioners — 16,000 marketable professionals, 4,000 in our Slack community, and a growing paid membership and certification program.
Our events are not an events business. They are how we recruit members and sell certification, and how we generate roughly $1M a year in sponsorship revenue. We run a full calendar: two flagship summits, a digital summit, connected activations at industry conferences, sponsor dinners, roadshows, and one to two sponsored webinars a month.
The programming works. What it doesn't have is a commercial system behind it — a prospectus, defensible price points, packages a seller can pick up and sell, and one person who knows the whole roadmap and keeps it from slipping. That's this job.
What you'll own
The commercial mandate — the highest-value part of this role
- Build the sponsorship prospectus. Translate our event calendar into named, priced, prebuilt packages that sales can sell without a custom conversation every time.
- Set and defend price points. Know what each asset is worth and why.
- Brief design on sponsor-facing collateral and hand sales ready-to-sell offers.
- Own sponsor activation end-to-end once sold: deliverables, deadlines, fulfillment, post-event reporting.
- Bring margin discipline to the event P&L. Finding cost in production or revenue in packaging is explicitly part of the job, not a stretch goal.
The execution backbone
- Quarterback the event roadmap. Know what's happening, catch what's slipping, chase the owners. You are the person who notices the site still says "watch on demand" a month before the event.
- Run logistics across the full footprint: summits, webinars, dinners, chapter events, roadshows, activations.
- Manage vendors: hotels and our production partner GFB.
- Speaker and session management for the summits: open the call for speakers, vet submissions, run our member-voting curation, and curate the final lineup.
- White-glove sponsored webinars: dry runs, Zuddl build, kickoff and host.
- Design the attendee experience with member-benefit hooks built in.
- Post-event close: surveys, thank-yous, reports with attendance and engagement data.
- Be onsite and run the room. Travel roughly 20%, primarily to owned/connected events.
What this role is not
- Not a sales role. Austin and Mike sell. You build what they sell.
- Not copywriting, email builds, or landing pages. We have a team for that.
- Not net-new program strategy or full-stack campaign architecture.
- Not replacing GFB. They handle flagship conference production; you manage the relationship.
What good looks like
At 90 days — You know the full roadmap and own it. The sponsorship prospectus is drafted with price points, and Barcelona is on track.
At 12 months — Sponsorship is sold from a standing package set rather than assembled deal by deal. Anaheim ships on plan with a materially better margin than last cycle. Event-sourced membership and certification conversion is measured and improving.
What you'll bring
- Several years in event marketing, field marketing, or event operations — B2B SaaS or MarTech strongly preferred.
- Direct experience packaging and pricing sponsorship, not just fulfilling it.
- Strong logistics and project-management instincts. Comfort running virtual event platforms (we use Zuddl) and opening live sessions on camera as a warm, credible representative of the community.
- Vendor and agency management experience, including negotiating scope and cost.
- Calm, organized, clear in writing.
- Bonus: demand-gen or ABM fluency — sizing audience overlap against a sponsor's target market from our HubSpot CRM. Directional context only. Our vendor-neutral, trust-first positioning with the community is non-negotiable and never for sale.
Compensation
Base: $95,000. Variable target $43,000 at plan, uncapped:
- 2% of sponsorship revenue booked against packages you build
- 15% of net contribution on connected events and activations you run, above a 25% margin floor
- 3% on annual-package sponsor dinners you coordinate
Target OTE $140,000. We'll walk you through the model and the assumptions behind each scenario in the second conversation.
Working arrangement
- W2. You'd be our first W2 employee — payroll through Gusto, standard California conflict-of-interest and confidentiality terms, and standard CA benefits.
- Open to a contractor retainer for the right person.
- You set your own hours, commit to them, and communicate your availability.
Who you'll work with
- Mike, Founder/CEO — strategic and P&L partner in this role.
- Internal design, dev, and project-management support. You won't be running solo.
- Austin on sponsorship sales, and GFB on flagship production.
