Job summary

Momentum Indoor Climbing is seeking an Event Host to support Birthday Parties and Group Events, providing supervision of participants, facilitation of games, and positive customer interactions.

This part-time role requires climbing experience, comfort with children, and the ability to enforce safety policies in a friendly, professional manner. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months of climbing experience.
• Comfortable working with children ages 3-18.
• Coaching or facilitation experience is a plus.
• Ability to maintain safety and follow gym policies.

Responsibilities

• Birthday Parties: set-up/clean-up, supervise groups up to 10 kids, facilitate games, and provide friendly customer service.
• Group Events: supervise youth and adult participants, guide experiences, and ensure safety.
• Maintain knowledge of gym programs and offerings to provide accurate information.

Momentum Indoor Climbing is a community-driven indoor climbing company with locations across Utah, Texas, and Washington. With world-class route setting, expert instruction, and a strong focus on community, Momentum is dedicated to helping every climber reach their full potential.

Event Hosts directly report to either the General Manager (GM) or Group Coordinator (GC), depending on the location. Event Hosts will be hired to work both Birthday Parties and Group Events, providing supervision of participants, facilitation of games, and positive customer interactions.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Birthday Parties

• Set-up and clean-up birthday party area/supplies
• Supervise and engage with groups of up to 10 kids (ages 4+)
• Facilitate games and interactive activities
• Ensure participants’ safety by enforcing Momentum policies in a friendly and professional manner
• Interact with parents and guests to provide excellent customer service
• Assess participants' skill levels and provide appropriate support

Group Events

• Supervise and engage with both youth and adult participants based on the booking
• Facilitate group climbing experiences based on the selected option:
• Bouldering Only: Ensure safety, provide guidance on proper bouldering techniques, and supervise participants
• Maintain a working knowledge of gym programs and offerings to provide accurate information
• Ensure participants are using proper equipment and following Momentum's climbing safety procedures

REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Qualifications:

• At least 6 months of climbing experience with a strong enthusiasm for climbing
• Comfortable working with children ages 3-18
• Previous experience in coaching, programming, or facilitation is a plus, but not required
• Ability to prioritize the needs of participants and create a safe, fun environment
• Ability to maintain professional conduct while engaging with children, parents, and other staff members
• Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to empathize and communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff

Environmental and Physical Demands

• Able to work in a loud, high-energy environment on a regular basis
• Comfortable speaking in front of and providing instruction to large groups
• Comfortable working at height and moving up and down a climbing wall
• Must be able to climb confidently and safely to heights to perform rescues
• Able to stand, walk, and work on unstable and uneven surfaces for long periods
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis

Hours and Availability

• Part-time
• Weekend availability for Birthday Parties and Groups required

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• $23.00/hour
