Job summary

Speedway Motorsports, LLC is seeking a Traveling Event Equipment Technician to support golf cart rentals and equipment at NASCAR races and major venues across the United States. The role requires extensive travel, with on-site duties and accommodations provided for travel days.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, safety-conscious and able to work independently or as part of a team. CDL is preferred, with potential for higher starting salary for CDL-qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• 21+ years old and ability to obtain medical card for driving company vehicles.
• Mechanical aptitude; small engine knowledge strongly preferred.
• Basic understanding of technology: e-mail, Excel, tablet and laptop use.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Proactive and able to work in a team or independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to continually learn and adapt to new challenges.
• Class A CDL preferred; CDL-qualified candidates may be eligible for higher starting salary; desire to pursue CDL.

Responsibilities

• Traveling role with hotel accommodations and per diem; on the road for most of the year.
• 200+ days on location for events outside Harrisburg, NC.
• Safely operating equipment including golf carts, generators, pressure washers, diesel pickup trucks, and towing up to 10,000 lb trailers.
• Load/unload golf carts on trailers; event preparation and execution; customer interaction.

Do you enjoy working with your hands, traveling to major events, and being part of a fast-paced team? We’re looking for a Traveling Event Equipment Technician to keep our fleet moving at NASCAR races and other large venues across the US!

SUMMARY:

The Traveling Event Equipment Technician is a member of SMI Properties, a subsidiary of Speedway Motorsports, LLC. This role resides in the Assets & Transportation department of SMI Properties, which provides golf cart rentals to large event venues across the US, including most NASCAR Cup Series races. This position is a full-time position which reports to the Event Operations Manager.

JOB DUTIES:

This is a traveling role that includes all hotel accommodations and per diem for all travel days. This position will be on the road for the majority of the year with extensive time off during the winter season. Work days will equate to a standard work year.

• 200+ days working on location for events outside of Harrisburg, NC
• Safely and efficiently operating equipment including but not limited to, golf carts, generators, pressure washers, diesel pickup trucks, and towing up to 10,000 lb. trailers
• Safely loading and securing, and unloading golf carts on trailers
• Event preparation, event set up, customer interaction, event execution

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 21+ years of age and ability to obtain medical card, as required for driving company vehicles
• Mechanical aptitude, small engine knowledge strongly preferred
• Basic understanding and ability to use technology as required to complete tasks, including but not limited to, e-mail, reviewing Excel spreadsheets, utilizing a tablet and laptop computer
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Proactive and able to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
• Willingness to continually learn and adapt to new challenges
• Able to interact professionally with customers and employees at every level of the organization
• Class A CDL preferred; CDL-qualified candidates may be eligible for a higher starting salary. Desire to pursue CDL required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand for an extended period of time and work outside in various weather conditions
• Frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday
