Job summary

The Event Company - South Dakota in Sioux Falls is seeking an Event Designer to lead planning for corporate, nonprofit and social events from concept through execution. This role involves coordinating logistics, budgets, vendor relations, and on-site management, with travel across the five-state region and occasional evenings/weekends.

You will collaborate with clients and the Creative Team to translate visions into compelling designs while staying current with industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in event planning, project management, or vendor management.
  • Event Designer experience in corporate events, nonprofit fundraising, or development preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage events from concept through execution.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written + verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (Asana, Trello, Basecamp or similar).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt under pressure.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset + attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to support event concepts, venues + experiences.
  • Oversee venue sourcing, layout planning + on-site execution.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including sourcing, communication + contract negotiation.

  • Participate in post-event debrief session to review successes + opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Event Project Managers + the Creative Team.
  • Contribute to the development of event design boards + client presentations.
  • Assist the Event Project Manager with managing event budgets.

Job description

We are seeking an Event Designer to lead efforts in the planning of corporate, non-profit + social events. Many of these events will take place throughout the five-state region; however, some will be located in other parts of the country. Event Designer candidates must be willing to work occasional evenings + weekends + have the ability to travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Event Designer, you will play a critical role in bringing client visions to life from concept through execution. Responsibilities include:

Event Planning + Execution

Vendor + Partner Relations
  • Serve as a key point of contact for event vendors + partners
  • Maintain clear, timely + professional communication across all stakeholders
  • Schedule + lead vendor planning meetings
  • Support the growth + stewardship of long‑term client relationships
QUALIFICATIONS + EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in event planning, project management, or vendor management
  • Event Designer experience in corporate events, nonprofit fundraising, or development preferred
  • Proven ability to manage events from concept through execution

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office + file‑sharing tools
  • Ability to lift +/or move up to 50 lbs
  • Valid driver’s license + reliable transportation willingness + ability to travel as needed
