Job summary

Michaels in Irving, Texas is seeking an Event Coordinator to plan and execute in-store events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. You’ll work with customers of all ages to create a fun, creative experience and coordinate logistics with store teams.

Ideal candidates bring energy, excellent people skills, and experience in retail or customer service, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate clearly, and adapt to client needs while upholding safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events, including children's birthday parties and craft classes.
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment.
  • Demonstrate and instruct participants; perform face painting and activities.
  • Facilitate add-ons like goody bags and balloons to standards.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as emails, calls, and paperwork.
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans for events.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean after events.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance.

Job description

Event Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
  • Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
Customer Experience
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions.
  • Provide fast and friendly check out experience.
  • Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
  • Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
  • Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS)
  • Participate in the truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes.
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards.
  • Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members
  • Cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including (but not limited to) sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms

  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment
