Job summary

Groovin' Gourmets, the catering division of Trolley Hospitality Companies, is seeking an Event Captain to lead event service teams in the Richmond area. You will be responsible for transport, setup, service, and teardown, while guiding servers and bartenders to ensure smooth operations.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of catering or banquet experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to adapt to different venues and schedules, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of catering or banquet service experience.
• Experience leading a team in food service or other industry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Positive and empowering interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Covid-19 vaccination preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport food, drinks, and equipment to the event venue safely.
• Manage all aspects of the event, including setup, service, and teardown.
• Execute the Sales Event Coordinator's plan and adapt to different venues.
• Lead a team of co-captains, servers, and bartenders.
• Maintain clear communication with the event host.
• Be resourceful and proactive in addressing issues.
• Foster an environment that supports team development.
• Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Event Captain Expectations

• Responsible for the safe transport of food, drinks, and equipment to event venue.
• Manage all aspects of the event including set-up, serving meals and beverages, and take-down.
• Carry out the Sales Event Coordinator's plan for the event and be able to adapt to different venues when determining how to set up and organize service flow.
• Lead a team of co-captains, servers, and bartenders.
• Maintain good communication with the event host.
• Be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise.
• Create an environment that supports and develops the members of your team.
• Be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Event Captain Skills And Experience

• 1-2 years of catering or banquet service experience
• Experience leading a team, whether in food service or other industry
• Excellent communication ability, both verbal and written
• Positive and empowering interpersonal skills
• Physical stamina to work long hours (must be able to lift 50 pounds)
• Covid-19 vaccination preferred
