Position Summary:

At Blue Plate, a staple in Chicago's catering industry, we believe in creating extraordinary experiences that resonate with our guests long after the event. As an Event Bartender, you'll play a key role in making these moments come to life, ensuring every guest leaves with a smile and a story to share.

Essential Functions Of Your Role:
  • Arrive Ready: Show up at the venue on time, dressed according to our professional uniform standards, and fully prepared to create an exceptional bar experience.
  • Get Your Assignment: Check in with your supervisor to receive your bar setup details, special drink requests, and service expectations for the event.
  • Set the Bar: Ensure bar station(s) are set up according to event needs, fully stocked, garnishes prepped, and all equipment clean and organized.
  • Master Your Craft: Familiarize yourself with the drink menu, including specialty cocktails, wine pairings, and non-alcoholic options, and be knowledgeable about ingredients and guest preferences.
  • Deliver Exceptional Service: Prepare and serve beverages accurately and efficiently, following the designated service style, recipes, and proper pouring techniques.
  • Mix with Precision: Monitor alcohol consumption, check IDs when necessary, and follow all responsible service guidelines to ensure guest safety.
  • Be a Star: Welcome guests professionally, respond promptly to their needs, and answer questions about the drink menu and the event.
  • Wrap It Up: Assist in breaking down the bar station(s), ensuring everything is packed up and the venue is left spotless.
  • Be a Team Player: Work independently and as part of a team to deliver excellent service.
  • Be safe: Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Stay Connected: Regularly check Blue Plate's scheduling system for shift updates and changes.
  • Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years prior bartender experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Strong affinity for Blue Plate's mission: "care more" for others through food and service.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues and alert leadership when needed.
  • Ability to work independently and intuitively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Maintain a positive customer service attitude.
  • Properly pin tables and fold napkins to company standards promptly.
Language Skills:
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking) required.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, taste, and smell.
  • Stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, and crouch for 6-8 hours.
  • Lift and move up to 90 lbs.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
Work Environment:
  • May work in extreme heat and wet conditions.
  • Noise level is low to moderate.
  • Work near moving or mechanical parts.
