Job summary

The Michaels Companies in Columbia, SC is seeking an Part-time Event Host to plan and coordinate kids’ parties and other in-store events. You will engage guests, assist shoppers, and ensure a fun, creative experience while maintaining excellent service standards.

You will help with event set-up and break-down, manage add-ons and activities, and support store operations with daily tasks and customer care. A retail background is helpful.

  • Experience planning or running children’s events is preferred.
  • Retail or customer service background is beneficial.

Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they’re looking for. Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience. Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed to deliver our Brand Promises.**Event Coordination*** Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.* Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.* Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.* Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.* Communicate events with clients and store team members.* Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.* Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs.* Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.* Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.* Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards.
