Job summary
Hearst's WESH 2/CW18 in the Orlando area is seeking a Nightside Traffic Anchor/Reporter to deliver essential traffic updates for 4, 5, and 6 PM, and cover day-of news for 10 PM and 11 PM newscasts. You will report to the Nightside Executive Producer and work with a photojournalist after 6 PM.
The ideal candidate has strong on-air presence, solid journalist storytelling skills, and the ability to ad-lib during breaking news.
Qualifications
- Professional or college experience as a journalist and storyteller.
- Strong on-air presence and live reporting skills.
- Ability to report breaking traffic and news live from the scene.
Responsibilities
- Prepare afternoon/evening traffic reports with graphics.
- Deliver clear live traffic updates for 4 PM, 5 PM and 6 PM newscasts.
- Research and report up-to-the-minute traffic conditions.
- Coordinate with producers and anchors to ensure accurate visuals.
- Post updates to our website, app and social platforms.
- After 6 PM, work with a photojournalist on packages for 10 PM/11 PM.
- Cover breaking news and traffic as directed.
- Build strong relationships with law enforcement and agencies.
- Develop stories with unique angles beyond surface details.
- Contribute video, photos and text to digital platforms.
- Adhere to journalistic integrity and work under deadlines.
