Job summary

Maurer's Urban Market in Verona, WI is seeking a Night Manager to oversee the store during evening and closing hours. You will serve as Manager on Duty, lead Team Members, maintain safety, cleanliness, and stock levels to prepare for the next business day.

You will ensure accurate closing procedures, respond to customer questions, enforce cash handling, and report issues to the Store Director. This hourly role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to work evenings,

Qualifications

• Experience leading in grocery/retail or customer-service environments.
• Closing or Manager on Duty experience preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Ability to stay calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Evening, closing, weekend, and holiday availability.
• Physical ability to stand, lift, and perform tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support Team Members during evening and closing shifts.
• Provide excellent customer service and respond to questions and complaints.
• Ensure store safety, cleanliness, and proper stocking for the next day.
• Monitor attendance, breaks, and performance during shifts.
• Follow cash-handling and register procedures and secure areas at closing.
• Communicate issues to the Store Director or manager.
• Ensure alcohol and tobacco policies are followed (9:00 PM cut-off).
• Verify proper closing and recovery across departments.
• Complete closing checklist and report incomplete tasks.
• Secure doors and building and ensure readiness for opening.
