Job summary

General Healthcare Resources, Inc. seeks a Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens assignment in Canonsburg, PA. This outpatient correctional health role offers evening coverage with 10-hour shifts, about 4 shifts per week and ~40 hours weekly.

Start in September 2026 for ~42 weeks, with strong clinical support and independent practice opportunities. Applicants must hold an PA NP license and NP certification, with at least 1 year of clinical experience; night shift and emergency

Qualifications

• Active PA NP license required.
• Current NP certification required.
• At least 1 year of clinical experience required.
• Previous night shift experience strongly preferred.
• Emergency medicine experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to work a full-time schedule in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients entering the facility during overnight hours.
• Evaluate and treat acute and chronic medical concerns.
• Support initiation of detox treatment with nursing staff.
• Address urgent and emergent medical issues as they arise.
• Provide high-quality care to a primarily adult patient population.
• Work independently with on-site nursing support and physician backup by phone.
• Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
• Help ensure continuity of care in a high-volume correctional health setting.
