Job summary

Hudson City School District is seeking a Custodian for the Buildings & Grounds Department to perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance under supervision.

Work is Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day, 2:30–11:00 p.m. Duties include sweeping, mopping, washing windows, dusting, and basic repairs; snow removal may be required.

Applicants must have at least one year of cleaning experience and be able to read and write; start ASAP. Rate of pay is per contract.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write.
• One year of building cleaning experience.
• Candidate must carry a custodial appointment or appear on an official Civil Service list.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps and mops floors.
• Washes windows and polishes furniture.
• Dusts woodwork, furniture and other articles.
• Collects paper and rubbish.
• Mows lawns, cultivates trees and shrubs, and performs other grounds tasks.
• May operate heating system.
• Makes minor repairs to building, equipment and furniture.
• Oil and grease mechanical equipment.
• May direct traffic in front of a school.
• Heavy lifting (kitchen supplies).
• Assist in snow removal around building areas.
