Job summary

Southeast Polk Community School District is seeking a Custodian for the Willowbrook Elementary site. The role supports cleaning classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas, ensuring a safe and clean school environment. Duties include floor care, waste removal, and assisting with events.

Candidates should be reliable, able to lift, and work well with staff and students. The position reports to the Director of Buildings and Grounds and requires adherence to district safety and sanitation

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical tasks.
• Ability to read, write and interpret rules and procedures.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties including sweeping and mopping floors, emptying garbage, cleaning classrooms, restrooms and hallways, and securing buildings.
• Maintain cleanliness of designated spaces and equipment to meet health standards.
• Move and arrange furniture as required and assist with special events.
• Restock supplies and provide inventory data; request needed cleaning supplies.
• Report repairs needed for equipment and facilities; follow chain of command.
