Job summary

Alverno Laboratories, serving Franciscan Health Michigan City, is hiring a part-time phlebotomist to join its laboratory team. This role focuses on blood collection, specimen handling, and related clerical tasks to ensure accurate and timely testing.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, phlebotomy training/experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel to other locations if needed. Weekend rotations may apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Phlebotomy experience and/or training required.
• Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• May be required to travel/drive to other locations.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens and perform laboratory office duties.
• Register patients and enter data into the computer system.
• Accession specimens and process paperwork.
• Prepare specimens for testing and/or for sending to central/reference laboratories.
• Handle blood, body fluids and urine specimens per procedures; may perform waived and specified non-waived POC tests.
• May act as driver and participate in on-call rotation.
