Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Per Diem Staff Nurse for the Ambulatory Surgery Unit (Mount Sinai Morningside) in New York, NY. You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments, plan and implement care, and contribute to discharge planning in a collaborative setting.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of OR/pre-op/post-op/telemetry/PACU experience, NYRN license, and are comfortable with mentoring staff and students while providing high‑quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Active NY RN license required.
• 2 years OR/Pre-op/Post-op/Telemetry/PACU experience required.
• BSN preferred; ADN with relevant experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments based on interview, exam and records.
• Update progress notes and revise care plans accordingly.
• Develop discharge plans aligned with patient status and inter-department communication.
• Communicate patient information according to learning needs.
• Precept and orient new staff; mentor students and volunteers.
• Organize care assignments reflecting patient needs and staff skills.
• Escalate patient changes to leadership; support staff development.
• Collaborate to meet unit and patient needs via effective communication.
