Job summary

Richmond University Medical Center in New York is seeking a Peer Advocate to support recovery goals of individuals using drugs or alcohol. This role leverages lived experience and professional training to provide face-to-face peer support.

Responsibilities include outreach to engage individuals in treatment, encourage ongoing engagement, and connect clients to community-based recovery resources. Travel to off-site campuses may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have either 180 days in Recovery or extensive personal experience with addiction.
• Must be willing to travel to off-site campuses and clinics.
• CRPA certification required.
• High School diploma or NYSED-approved HSE.
• 50 hours of required training in advocacy, mentoring and recovery support.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License or Non-Drivers ID preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face peer support to individuals in recovery.
• Assist engagement in treatment and connect clients to community resources.
• Develop networking with facilities to strengthen communications between our center and other organizations.
