Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System Indian Creek Main is seeking a Patient Meal Preparer for part-time shifts. You will assist in preparing meals for patients, visitors and staff, and help keep work stations clean and sanitized.

Under supervision you will train staff, coordinate tasks to maintain efficiency, monitor meal quality and presentation, and manage patient diet orders with nursing staff and the on‑call dietitian. You’ll perform weekly inventory and related tasks.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as a cook, dietary aide, or food service.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to coordinate with nursing staff and dietician on diet orders.

Responsibilities

• Assist in keeping food service areas and equipment clean and sanitized.
• Train workers and coordinate tasks to improve efficiency.
• Monitor meal quality and presentation to dietary standards.
• Maintain patient diet orders and communicate with nursing staff and on‑call dietitian.
• Perform weekly inventory of food supplies and ensure quality.
• Perform Food Preparer duties as needed.
• Comply with organizational policies and procedures.
• Support inventory and distribution of hospital resources.
