The role supports the Microbiology team in a fast-paced hospital lab with an evening shift. Required is an Associate's Degree in a relevant science, plus a 4-month clinical internship; ASCP certification eligibility is required within 1

Qualifications

• Minimum Education - Preferred Associate's Degree in a relevant science preferred.
• Minimum Work Experience Four (4) months’ clinical laboratory internship preferred.
• Required Certifications MLT/MT (ASCP) or ASCP equivalent (certification required within 1 year from date of hire).
• Eligible for Medical Technologist Certification (MTE-ASCP) – MT/ASCP.

Responsibilities

• Test performance of specimens according to laboratory protocol and procedures.
• Report test results in a timely manner and document communications in LIS.
• Follow laboratory quality control procedures and notify supervisor of discrepancies.
• Perform maintenance and calibration of instruments as required.
• Troubleshoot instruments and specimens and document steps taken.
• Adhere to Universal Precautions and safety policies; use PPE as required.
• Communicate with Microbiology team to ensure daily work completion.
• Participate in orientation and training of new staff and students.
