Job summary

Virtua Health in Burlington Hospital seeks a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) for evenings and nights. Swing shifts, 3rd shift; on-site at Burlington. Requires Associate degree in Laboratory Science and valid MT/MLT registration; ASCP certification preferred.

Analyzes, interprets, and validates laboratory procedures on blood, body fluids, and tissues. Hourly rate: $30.37–$47.20, with variation by experience and market data.

Qualifications

• Externship- 4-6 months.
• Associates degree in Laboratory Science area.
• Valid registration as a Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Technician or equivalent, or meets CLIA '88 educational requirements for high complexity testing.
• New graduate or experienced new hire with lab employment history beginning after 1988 meeting CLIA ’88 requirements.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity testing accurately and precisely according to established procedure without direct supervision.
• Post analytically, validates results using established indicators, investigates deviations from the norm, recognizes trends or shifts, and applies corrective action.
• Performs, reviews and documents all quality control according to established policies and procedures.
• Performs pre-analytical processes including patient ID, phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen verification, receipt and shipment.
• Correctly operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as required.
