Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System The Woodlands seeks an Medical Lab Scientist or MLT to join our evening shift laboratory team. You will perform generalist testing across blood bank, microbiology, hematology, and chemistry to deliver accurate diagnostic results for patient care.

Qualifications include MLS/CLS degree and applicable certifications; candidates should thrive in a fast-paced environment and contribute to quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in MLS/CLS or related field from an accredited institution.
• Associate degree in MLS with a Bachelor’s in a chemical/biological/clinical lab science.
• Advanced degrees in MLS/CLS or biological science for microbiology/molecular tracks.
• Licensure or certification eligible and plan to certify within one year.

Responsibilities

• Manages daily laboratory operations including specimen collections, processing, quality control, and result reporting.
• Interprets test results and ensures timely, accurate, and critical diagnostic reporting.
• Maintains analyzers and assists with instrument troubleshooting as needed.
• Works with clerical duties to maintain efficient workflow.
• Keeps up with education and test competencies for age-specific patient populations.
• Adheres to safety policies when handling chemicals and biological specimens and participates in quality initiatives.
• Supports blood bank, trauma, and point-of-care testing as required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Clinical Laboratory Science

Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Science and Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological/clinical/medical laboratory science

Doctoral/Masters/Bachelor’s in Medical Laboratory Science/Clinical Laboratory Science or biological science (Microbiology)

Bachelor’s in Medical Laboratory Science/Clinical Laboratory Science or Molecular Biology/Biological Science/ Molecular Genetics
