Job summary

SGMC Health's PM LAB seeks a Laboratory Technologist to support quality analyses and reporting for patient care in a modern hospital laboratory on an evening shift. The role requires CLIA-88 qualifications and MT certification, including phlebotomy and point-of-care testing across age groups.

Candidates must be registered with a recognized MT certifying agency; there is a pathway for temporary technologist status to complete the qualifying exam.

Qualifications

• Qualifies as a technologist according to CLIA-88 standards.
• Must be registered with a recognized Medical Technologist certifying agency (ASCP, AMT, HHS/HEW, AAB or others).
• Temporary technologist classification for 12 months to allow completion of an approved qualifying examination.
• Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient (neonate to geriatric).
• Normal color vision to discriminate and verify diagnostic laboratory stains and color-dependent tests.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for quality performance and reporting of analyses of technical procedures for the benefit of optimal patient care according to laboratory policy and procedures and applicable regulations (FDA, JCAHO, CAP, STATE, AABB, OSHA).
• Adhere to safety standards and operate standard laboratory equipment and PPE.
