Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a housekeeping environment services worker to perform a variety of cleaning duties at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. The role includes buffing, stripping, refinishing floors, carpet shampooing, and general sanitation to maintain patient care areas in a sanitary condition.

Under supervision, responsibilities include stocking, preparing solutions, and cleaning patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.

Qualifications

• Requires the ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.
• The level of education normally attained in courses at secondary school levels.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.
• One to three months to proficiently perform all basic duties.

Responsibilities

• Assembles materials and supplies from supply rooms, stocks service carts, transports to assigned work area.
• Performs daily cleaning and supplying of the area according to floor schedule and standards.
• Prepares cleaning solutions, dusts surfaces, empties wastebaskets, cleans and polishes fixtures.
• Cleans bathrooms, showers, and patient rooms; changes bed linens and handles infectious waste as needed.
• Maintains equipment and work area in a neat, safe condition; reports repairs to supervisor.
